These last few weeks Flinn (5) has been having absolute raging bedtime tantrums.
It’s those kinds of meltdowns when I actually don’t know what to do next or how to resolve it. When Flinn sees red there is no stopping him. It’s upsetting as a parent, for his 2 brothers and of course for him too.
There’s no denying that we live in a fast-paced, whirlwind society. We want everything immediately; from food to friends to entertainment, we want the latest and the greatest, and we want it now. But rather than making us happier, all to often this lifestyle can make us feel like we’re running on a treadmill that is getting progressively faster. Just like the cladding fire disasters in the building industry, we take short-cuts, looking for a cheap alternative that creates the image we are wanting to present to the world and it could cost us big time. Life is rushing past us at such a fast rate that we barely remember each day, let alone take time to enjoy it! But it doesn’t have to be this way.
“Mummy Time” – these two words might seem very strange together. Usually, if these words are used together there will be an extra word at the start, that word being “NO’’, No Mummy time. The life you once had, the time you had to read that book or sit in the sun, the sleep-ins, the one load of washing a week! This little human comes into your life and your life will never be the same again.
Trying to get the kids to sleep quickly is a battle I seem to fight every night! With 3 boys, bedtime usually starts around 6:45 and I get back downstairs around 8:15. Ever since my daughter was born, I have become more and more aware of the simply astounding about of trash I create. As a single person, or even as a couple it was manageable but once you add a baby (or worse, 6 year old) to the mix, suddenly there are empty juice boxes, empty packets of crisps and, well, soap containers everywhere.

As a parent, you want to make sure you are giving your baby the very best start to life. It’s why you research everything from the best baby food to pre-schools, the best baby books to the pros and cons of swaddling. But have you given much thought to how you are washing your baby’s clothes? Your baby’s skin is very sensitive and needs much gentler care than your own. Typical laundry detergents can be more harmful than good. That’s why we’d recommend you use organic soapberries to wash your baby’s clothes.
A trip to the gym is just what you need to clear your head and get in a much-needed sweat session, but being a parent comes first, and between your schedule and theirs, you feel like you barely have time to breathe. The good news is that you can do gym exercises at home, so you can sneak in exercise early in the morning before the kids wake up, during nap time, or in the evening while dinner is cooking and the kids are occupied with homework or games. With some indoor exercise backups, you can be a caring parent while still getting in a workout.
